York Mansion House
St Helen’s Square
York Mansion House is less than a 10 minute walk from York railway station. It is within minutes of York’s main attractions such as Museum Gardens and the Shambles. Situated in St Helen’s Square in the heart of York city centre and a stones throw away from Betty’s Tea Room it is the perfect place to visit on a day out.
If travelling to York Mansion House by car there are numerous car parks circling the city centre including Park and Ride services. Our nearest car park is Esplanade (YO1 6FZ) which is 5 minutes walk from us and York city centre.
York is well connected with bus services running regularly through the city centre. Please visit iTravelYork website to plan your route.
If travelling by coach in a large group, the nearest coach drop-off point is opposite the war memorial on Leeman Road. It is then a 5 minute walk over Lendal Bridge to the Mansion House.
York is easily accessible from a range of UK cities by rail. It takes less than two hours from London and Manchester Airport with trains running regularly throughout the day. To plan your journey visit National Rail.
York Mansion House is wheelchair accessible with a lift located at the rear of the building leading to all floors and accessible toilet facilities. (This is a fire lift and can be used in an evacuation)
Please note that due to the limited space of a historical building York Mansion House has limited capacity to admit two wheelchair users at any one time.
Guide dogs are welcome and our audio/visual guides can assist you in your tour of the house. Mobility scooters can be parked at the rear of the building.
Whenever possible please contact us before your visit if requiring special assistance and we will be happy to assist.
Pushchairs cannot be taken around the house; however we do have storage for three collapsed pushchairs located near our reception/ gift shop.
There are baby changing facilities available.
Suitcases and large bags cannot be taken into York Mansion House due to limited space and fragile items on display. Please note our small storage area is reserved for pushchairs.
We have on-site security and you may be subject to a bag search when entering/ exiting the building.
No flash photography allowed on the premises.
No pets are allowed on the premises with the exception of guide dogs.
Please refrain from wearing stiletto heels as these can damage the original flooring in the building.
