Education and Learning
We want everyone to discover the unique heritage of York Mansion House, and to uncover the stories of domestic life, civic duty, and historic scandal. From pre-schoolers to home educators, uniformed groups and lifelong learners, we have created a fascinating programme, delving into the past and exploring the future of this remarkable building and its occupants.
Our education team have created a diverse programme entirely unique to the Mansion House. Walking students through historical events, the function of democracy, or life below stairs, the interactive workshops can be delivered exactly as presented, or used as a starting point for creating something bespoke.
Taking students through Debating, Decision Making and Democracy, these topics are suitable for supporting the national curriculum from KS1 to KS4.
History of York
These workshops will explore Power and Prestige, and A Timeline of York, and will support the curriculum from KS1 to KS3.
18th Century Life
Covering Food and Etiquette in the 18th Century, and 18h Century Health and Hygiene, these workshops are suitable for KS2 and 3.
York Mansion House is fully accessible, with lifts and ramp access throughout. We will happily work with you ahead of your visit to ensure all additional needs are accommodated, and we welcome visits from SEN groups.
