York Mansion House warmly welcomes school groups for visits. The house reopens in 2017 after a £1.2 million HLF restoration project. Our educational facilities bring over 800 years of civic history to life as well as Georgian architecture, artefacts and lifestyle.

Explore the historic Georgian kitchen, the most extensive civic collection of gold and silver outside of London; try to escape from the State Room and play detective in who killed the house cat!

Whether you are from primary, secondary or adult education we offer innovative activities and tours that link into the curriculum and key interest areas to provide both an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

There are three different ways that your students can explore York Mansion House, its stories and collections.

Free trails and resources for self-led visits are available with your ticket. If booking for a large group then please contact us prior to your visit.

Why not book a guided tour of York Mansion House for your group?

Tours of the house last 1 hour and can be tailored to meet the requirements of your group.

Please contact us to discuss the details of your guided tour.

You can book one of our interactive Education sessions and combine it with a self-led tour of the Mansion House.
