York Mansion House has a collection of paintings dating from the eighteenth century including portraits of the Lord Mayors of York. These include George Hudson the 'Railway King' and Robert Cattle the 'last goldsmith of York'.

George Hudson, thrice Lord Mayor of the City of York, purchased furniture for the house including a large dining table. This was specially made for York Mansion House and has an ingenuous screw mechanism which when cranked by a handle, extends the table to seat over forty people.
